Havana

What do you need to know when traveling?

In Cuba, two types of currency are officially used: for tourists and for the local population. Visitors exchange currency for a convertible peso called CUC... "Cookies" can be used to pay for purchases in shops, services in hotels and other places visited by tourists. The CUC rate is rigidly tied to the dollar rate and a 10% commission is charged when exchanging, so it is better to take euros with you.
The local currency is the peso national... You can only buy locally produced goods for it, or pay for some services.
