It's easy for me to compare holidays in Thailand in February with other periods, because ... I live here. On the island of Koh Samui, for the second year.
Earlier, the February vacation helped me to reduce the harsh Ural cold. Now I am waiting for the end of winter as a Russian is waiting for the month of August. After all, it is high season outside, the weather is stable, and the sea is calm and warm.
Where is the best place to relax in February?
You can breathe out, because the question of where is the best place to relax in Thailand in February (so that it is warm and without rain) is solved “simply” - anywhere.
Thailand's weather in February is ideal for visiting any resort. In addition to Phuket and Pattaya, it has a great rest on the islands and in the provinces: Phangan, Koh Samui, Ko Chang, Krabi.
The only thing is that the islands of Thailand are not so accessible:
- For example, there are no tours to Phangan. You can get there from Koh Samui - 1.5 hours by ferry, 150 baht and you are on the island.
- And it is more convenient to explore the province of Krabi from Phuket - take a two-day excursion. It will be cheaper than buying a tour from Russia.
Phuket in February
We arrived at the extreme point of Phuket - Cape Promtep
(during the rest we rented a scooter)
Many travel to Phuket to see the popular James Bond Islands and the location where the movie The Beach was filmed. If you are also in favor of sea excursions, then choose Phuket in February - the month when all water routes will be 100% open, thanks to the calm sea. When I was here in the summer, I never managed to sail to the islands, it was too stormy.
- Average air temperature: + 30.5 ° С
- Average sea temperature in February: + 29.2 ° С
Another reason why I like Phuket in February: the whole New Year's excitement subsides, prices for hotels and for tours are decreasing. It becomes a little freer on the beaches, and celebrating Valentine's Day on the sand and with a mango cocktail is ideal :)
Pattaya in February
Our other tour trip to Pattaya is a view from the observation deck of the Hilton hotel,
went here for breakfast
February in Pattaya is as wonderful as it is in Phuket. And the excursion is even more varied - even a couple of vacations are not enough to see everything. Planning to stay awake at night? Pattaya won't disappoint either.
- Average air temperature: + 30 ° С
- Average sea temperature: + 28.7 ° С
But if you are going to Tai for a beach holiday, then it is better to choose Phuket. For whom then is Pattaya? My friends say that here they get the main thing - the impressions of constant movement and night parties. And you can always see the paradise landscapes on the nearby (hour by ferry) island of Ko Lan - there are beaches with white sand and azure sea.
Summary: Pattaya - for combining active nightlife (bars, discos, shows of 18+ format) and daytime (excursions, trips to the islands) life.
Samui in February
Our friend lives on Koh Samui - the photo was taken during
excursions to the islands nearby
February on Koh Samui is a golden mean: the rains have already ended, but the sweltering heat has not yet come. My favorite month on Koh Samui, it is not in vain considered the most favorable. Everything in moderation: no stuffiness and sunny.
- Average air temperature: + 28 ° С
- Average sea temperature: + 28.5 ° С
On the island, by the way, Valentine's Day is held in high esteem. Almost all establishments are decorated with garlands and hearts, guests are presented with a glass of champagne or a rose. If you are on Koh Samui in February, I recommend Du Du Bao. An incredibly romantic atmosphere: everything is on fire, an outdoor pool, live music and delicious food.
Prices for tours to Thailand in February 2021
Attention was drawn to a sign - everything seemed to be standard, except for the inscription "No Durian".
This fruit is under special control in many places in Thailand.
Thailand in February is a high season, which means that direct charters from Russia fly frequently and from many cities. In winter, not only parents from Moscow can come to me, but also relatives from Nizhnevartovsk (we meet on neutral territory, in Pattaya).
They monitor tours on online aggregators - they collect offers from all tour operators directly, and book which is more profitable:
- Travelata
- Level.Travel
- Onlinetours
From the editor. We have agreed with the Travelata service about a generous promo code of 2000 rubles for tours to Thailand costing from 100,000 rubles - AF2000Thowtrip.
About prices for tours.
So, what would be quite inexpensive, vacation in February 2021, of course, will not work. Still the peak of the season. I'll tell you about 3 popular resorts:
Phuket in February:
- A voucher for two for 10 days costs from 75,000 rubles.
- A family trip for the same period - mom, dad, child - from 115,000 rubles.
- Are you looking for a good hotel with reviews? Then the price tag gets close to 90,000 rubles for two, and 135,000 rubles for a children's holiday.
- All inclusive (this system is more common in Phuket) - from 180,000 rubles for two.
- Holidays, in principle, do not affect pricing in any way - tours to Phuket with capture on February 14 or 23 also cost from 73-75 thousand rubles.
Pattaya in February:
- For two, prices for a 10-day tour start at 68,000 rubles (the cheapest resort in Tae). A proven hotel with a bunch of reviews - from 78,000 rubles.
- And at the beginning of February, and at the end, a vacation with a child costs from 110,000 rubles. A hotel with normal reviews adds +15,000 rubles to the cost.
- There is no All inclusive in Pattaya.
Tours to Koh Samui in February:
- There are some, but oh-oh-very expensive - from 120,000 rubles at least.
Therefore, the conclusion: the island of Koh Samui is about an independent trip to Thailand.
- The cheapest round-trip flights to Bangkok per person are 24,000 rubles (searched on Skyscanner). Flight to Koh Samui ≈ 13,000 rubles.
- 3-star hotel - from 1200 rubles per night in a double room (booked on RoomGuru or Booking).
Weather in Thailand in February
We walk along the most favorite beach in Phuket - Karon. Opposite him, across the street, they make excellent smoothies and sell some of the cheapest fruits (here we were shopping for home)
February is considered the coldest month among Thais. Just don't panic, you don't need to postpone the tour :) It is only called cold - according to the impressions of the temperatures in May or July at + 38 ° С ... + 39 ° С.
The month is quite dry, that is, there is practically no rain. For a month, only 3-4 days, when a downpour can break out, and even then, in the late afternoon. The sea is warm, calm, and most importantly, there are no waves.
The weather is comfortable and not as stiflingly sticky as it will start in April. Therefore, a vacation in Thailand in February is suitable for both an active (I have more excursions!) And a passive (I want to lie on the beach with a cocktail!) Tourist.
The weather in Phuket in February is the same as in Pattaya, but it feels hotter and drier in the latter.
Average temperatures in February:
Outdoors, ° С | At sea, ° С | |
Phuket | +29…+31 | +28…+29 |
Pattaya | +29…+31 | +28…+29 |
Samui | +27…+28 | +28…+29 |
What to do in Thailand in February
On an independent trip to Krabi, we went canoeing
in mangrove forests - I recommend this entertainment to everyone 🙂
Holidays and festivals are in full swing (Chinese New Year 2021 is celebrated on February 12th), and February is not the quietest month in the country.
All sea excursions are open. If someone is worried that they have seasickness, they can safely board boats and yachts, they will not get seasick.
Thailand's currency is baht. 1 baht ≈ 2 rubles.

Prices in Thailand
Kata Beach in Phuket - this is where we first tried surfing. At the place where I take a photo there is a good cafe and equipment rental
What you should definitely not expect is that prices in Thailand will be lower in February than the rest of the time. According to my observations, prices for food and excursions do not change much during the year.
Prices in the cafe:
- one dish in local Thai cafes - from 50 baht
- a dish in tourist restaurants - from 170 baht
- shake - 50-100 baht
Excursion prices:
- sea excursions - from 950 baht
- sightseeing - from 450 baht
- evening shows - from 400 baht
- extreme - from 1600 baht
In February, in Thailand, you can taste almost all fruits (tension with yellow mango, as its season starts in March). February is the ripening season for papaya, guava, watermelon, passion fruit. Prices for these fruits will be low, for others a little higher.
Fruit prices for 1 kg:
- mango - from 100 baht
- papaya - 30 baht
- passion fruit - from 40 baht
- dragon fruit - from 55 baht
- durian - from 120 baht per packaged piece
- pineapple - from 35 baht
- watermelon - from 30 baht
The most year-round fruit in Thailand is coconut. In any month, the average price is 15-20 baht. By the way, Thais consider it a drink of youth. This is probably why I do not look my age :)

Thailand in February - reviews of tourists
Night street Bangla road in Phuket / Sunset here, I don't remember the beach 🙂
Judging by the reviews of previous years and according to my observations, Thailand in February 2021 will be the same as it was years earlier - the same ideally warm and sunny. I usually say that the weather in Thailand is unpredictable, but not in February. In this month, you can safely plan every day of rest, schedule all the excursions and accurately implement your plans.
Having felt on myself every month, I can safely say that it is definitely worth a vacation in Thailand in February.
Pros and cons of staying in February
Pros of rest:
+ After the New Year's rush, prices for tours to Thailand in February are decreasing.
+ Excellent weather, not as humid and stuffy as it gets in late March or early April.
+ Temperature +30, hot, wonderful sea.
+ All types of excursions are available, especially sea and underwater.
+ There are no restrictions on the choice of the resort. The weather conditions are equally good on the mainland and on the islands.
Well, what are the disadvantages here? :) If only ...
— From the editorial board... Our vacation in Thailand in February was held in Bangkok: we have positive reviews, but in a huge metropolis with skyscrapers and eerie odors in such heat it is hard.
