What are the prices for holidays in Pattaya? Our author Tatyana answers, who did not dream, but took it and did it - changed her place of residence from Russia to Thailand.

  • My name is Tatiana and I am 30 years old.
  • I have been living in Tae on Koh Samui for a year now; I work in the field of tourism.
  • I spent 2 months in Pattaya. I was convinced that this is a paradise for winterers, but still moved on to the islands.

You know, there are tourists who go to Pattaya for the 3rd, 5th and even 10th times in a row. And there are those who do not look in the direction of the resort at all after reading negative reviews. I understand both groups - it's cheap and fun here, but there are a lot of shortcomings.

Today I propose to consider in more detail the rest in Pattaya, namely: what prices await a tourist in 2021. How much money to take with you and - most importantly - what to spend it on?

When is it cheaper to go: the season in Pattaya

Long-livers of Thailand already have a joke that the Thais specially invented the rainy season in order to get at least a little rest from us, tourists 🙂

The season begins in November and lasts until April... This is considered the best time to rest. I myself first came to Thailand in December - I ran away from the harsh Ural winter.

As such, there is no unsuitable weather for a beach vacation in Pattaya. This is Thailand's only resortwhere you can relax all year round! The division into season and off-season in Pattaya is more conditional: it is always sunny here and the average temperature is + 28 ° C. The difference is that in winter, dry and warm air; in summer it is humid and hot.

I anticipate your question: "What about the rainy season?" This stops many from traveling in the summer. As a person who lives in Thailand, I can say that the stories about the rainy season in Pattaya are exaggerated. Most often they are not prolonged and go at night. You don't even notice them. Stronger than normal rainfall occurs in September and October.

And of course, the prices for tours to Pattaya in winter will be higher than in summer.

Prices for tours to Pattaya

For a trip up to 30 days, a visa to Thailand is not required.

This is the second time my parents come to visit this winter. I help them find a ticket to Pattaya - the resort is located close to Bangkok airport, from where they fly to me for 3-5 days. Mom and Dad combine "business with pleasure": to relax in Pattaya, and to visit the daughter on Koh Samui 🙂

I taught them to book tours online, on aggregators. This saves a lot of time and saves you from being "imposed". Plus, they collect offers from all the top tour operators (handy). I distinguish three popular services:

  • Travelata
  • Level.Travel
  • Onlinetours

I study travel options, hotels, compare prices and buy where it is cheaper (using promotional codes).

Let's see the prices for tours to Pattaya. With a flight from Moscow for 10 days:

✓ In the most peak season - January, February - Pattaya for two costs from 75,000 rubles. The price in December is slightly lower: from 65,000 rubles.

✓ For good hotel with a high rating will have to shell out from 85,000 rubles.

✓ Prices for the new year (ie departure between December 23 and 31) - from the category of "expensive": from 105,000 rubles for the usual "three rubles"!

✓ Tour on mom, dad and baby - from 100,000 rubles for 10 days.
* it is interesting that vouchers from Irkutsk are not cheaper at all - the same 75,000 rubles for two.

By the way, by tour, both Phuket and Pattaya cost about the same. But rest in Krabi is more expensive - at least 85,000 rubles for 10 days.

Airfare

Independent tourists.
The cost of the flight to Pattaya consists of an air ticket to Bangkok (where the international airport is located) + transfer to Pattaya itself.

  • Air tickets: from 25,000 rubles for one round trip. Yes, often the price of a ticket to Thailand for two approaches the cost of the tour.
  • Transfer from Suvarnabhumi Airport: bus (to the station in Pattaya - 120 baht (250 rubles) per person; to the hotel - 280 baht (600 rubles)) or taxi (from 1500 baht (3170 rubles)). You can order a transfer from KiwiTaxi in advance so as not to haggle on the spot - there is a fixed price of 50 euros (3550 rubles) per car.

10 good hotels in Pattaya

Before comparing hotel prices in Pattaya, decide what is your priority:

  • parties, bars, festivities until the morning - this is central District... All noisy places and entertainment are concentrated there.
  • a more relaxing holiday, family - Pratumnak or Naklua area (from Wongamat beach and above).
  • need a beach holiday - look Jomtien area.

The list includes both popular and high quality and inexpensive hotels in Pattaya. In some of them I lived myself, in others - my acquaintances and friends. Reviews of tourists were also taken into account.

Prices are for a 10-night tour for two per season.

Accommodation: hotel prices in Pattaya

You can swim in clear turquoise water on the island of Koh Lan. I did so - swim for about 1 hour

If you have a rest in Pattaya on your own, then in terms of housing, everything is simpler than simple:

  • We rent a hotel on Booking or RoomGuru (I like the latter more, because it monitors about 10 hotel search systems).
  • Or choose an apartment on Airbnb.

As a rule, winterers go to the resort as a "savage" (after all, a tour is more profitable for a short time), and therefore renting an apartment is the best option. There is a kitchen here (you can cook something), and cleaning does not bother. Usually in Pattaya on Airbnb apartments are rented in condominiums - in other words, in apartment buildings with a swimming pool, gym, laundry, etc. Follow the link - a discount of 4000 rubles for the first booking, if you are a beginner!

Average price tag for housing in Pattaya:
(for two per night)

PattayaPhuket *
Hostelfrom $ 10from $ 10
2 * hotel or guesthousefrom $ 15from $ 15
Hotel 3 starsfrom $ 18from $ 20
4 star hotelfrom $ 30from $ 40
5 star hotelfrom $ 60from $ 85
Apartment with Airbnb (condo)from $ 25from $ 50

* for comparison, I also brought the price tag in Phuket to show that Pattaya is really inexpensive.

By the way, there are no all-inclusive hotels in Pattaya. The most common type of food in hotels is breakfast. Given the large number of cafes nearby, this is not a problem at all. But you are not tied to the hotel, you can walk without fear of missing dinner.

Food prices in Pattaya

The same Tom Yum / Starbucks at the Festival Mall

Prices in Pattaya in 2021 for food and alcohol do not differ much from the prices of the years before last. We feel the change in the big direction only because of the change in the exchange rate of the baht to the ruble. When the rate was 1: 1, odes were written about holidays in Thailand. You felt like a rich man: a bowl of soup - 60 rubles, salad - 50 rubles, American breakfast - 70 rubles!

Now the rate is 1: 2.5. That is, we multiply all prices in baht by approximately 2.5

Where to eat in Pattaya: list of places and prices

Here is a list of favorite places and approximate prices for cafes in Pattaya:

  • Tourist restaurants

    • Shabushi - Japanese cuisine for those who love seafood. Buffet restaurant. Pay once for entry and 1.5 hours you can eat whatever you want in any quantity!Check for one: 420 baht
    • Hard rock cafe - American cuisine. Very cozy restaurant, live music, beautiful interior. But the prices are high. A burger, for example, costs 800 baht.Check for one: 700-800 baht
    • Loaf Bakery and Cafe - cafe-pizzeria, European menu. Average price level. There are pastries, croissants. Located in the heart of the city.Check for one: 250-300 baht
    • Horizon Bar at the Hilton Hotel - a place with cocktails and panoramic views. The price tag is super high, but from 5 pm to 7 pm there is a happy hour: you buy one cocktail (360 or 420 baht), you get the second one as a gift! I did this a couple of times with a friend 🙂

Christmas tree in Pattaya for New Year

    Local cafes

    • Jasmin's Cafe - a beautiful and cozy place in the center near the beach line.Check for one: 100 baht
    • Somtum nameang - located near the Museum of Art in 3D Art in Paradise.Check for one: 50-80 baht

    Food courts

In the mall Central Festival (on the ground floor) and Terminal 21as well as in stores Tesco Lotus and Big C there are huge food courts. Mostly there is Thai food: soups, rice, noodles.

At Central Festival, the system is as follows - you approach the "hostesses", put money on a special card and you are admitted into the world of everything edible that you can imagine! You pay with the issued card. Prices are low - a check for one comes out in the region of 70-100 baht. We usually took sushi, rolls, tom yam (soup) and pad tai (fried noodles).

    Fast food

    • McDonald's - I still remember McFlury with sweet potatoes (sweet potatoes) ... it was seasonal, but you never know, will it suddenly return? Check 🙂Check for one: 200 baht (burger and cola).
    • KFC - fried chicken in Pattaya is also available. You can find, like McDonald's, at Central Festival (and not only).Check for one: 150 baht (chicken and drink)

    Street food

    • Makashnitsy (kitchens on wheels) - You can buy banana pancakes, as well as local food such as rice or noodles.Check for one: 50 baht
    • Night Markets - Here you can profit from both fried caterpillar crickets and normal food. For example, shrimp in batter - 30 baht, chicken kebab - 50 baht, waffles - 25 baht.

In Pattaya and Samui, the catering is the same. Therefore, while living on the island, I rarely visit cafes, I cook at home. And if I do, it is mainly for Russian cuisine: in a year you will miss our dumplings 🙂 I like to take coffee at 7 Eleven. There you will find latte, cappuccino, and Americano from a coffee machine. And the price is only 30 baht. And most importantly - around the clock. The most important thing is to stop by for a coffee during a break at work.

What to try?

My top of the most popular - and delicious - dishes and their prices in Pattaya (we take a local cafe):

✓ Tom yam and tom kha - divine soups with coconut milk and spices. The first one with shrimps, the second one with chicken. Delicate, at the same time sour and spicy. To have just a speck, and not a fire, ask for not spicy (spicy notes).
Cost in a cafe: from 70 baht

✓ Pad Thai - fried rice noodles with chicken, shrimp or crab - your choice. Season with soy sprouts, nuts and sweet sauce. So, we gotta stop by for a portion tonight 🙂
Cost in a cafe: from 50 baht

✓ Banana pancakes - thin pancakes fried until crispy with a banana filling. You can add nutella or condensed milk, the taste will increase by +100.
Cost in makashnits: from 50 baht

✓ Papaya salad - it combines sour, sweet, spicy and salty. The base of the salad is unripe papaya.
Cost in a cafe: from 70 baht

✓ Fried ice cream is already a dessert, but I could not help but include it. Absolutely natural ice cream rolled into tubes: only milk and fruit. They cook it in front of your eyes in 3 minutes - and this is a whole show 🙂
Cost in makashnits: from 50 baht

Food Prices in Pattaya - 2021

Fruit in Thailand is inexpensive, I bought it on the street,
both in supermarkets and night markets

Food products can be bought in shops and supermarkets:

  • 24/7 7/11 (Seven Ileven) and Family Mart (Family Mart). They are on every corner.
  • Large supermarkets: Macro, Big C, Tesco Lotus.

I always buy groceries and cook myself. It's cheaper, and I know for sure that my food will be sugar-free. Yes, Thais put sugar in everything! Even, it would seem, in those dishes where it is not needed. My favorite pad thai contains 2-3 tablespoons.

Below is a list of the main products. For interest, compare with prices in Russia! After I found out the cost of the cheese, I wanted to go back to my homeland.

Prices in Pattaya for groceries in the store (January 2021):
for rubles, multiply by 2

  • Chicken fillet, kg - 60 baht
  • White bread - 40-50 baht
  • Milk, l - 50-60 baht
  • Eggs, 10 pcs - 70 baht
  • Cheese, 500 gr - from 250 baht
  • Tomatoes, kg - 40-50 baht
  • Cucumbers, kg - 25-30 baht
  • Potatoes, kg - 25-30 baht
  • Rice, kg - 40 baht
  • Winston cigarettes - 60 baht
  • Water, 1.5 l - 13-20 baht
  • Cola, 0.5 l - 15 baht
    * in Tae there is vanilla and cherry cola outlandish for us
  • Toast from 7/11 and Family Mart - 25-30 baht
    * kaaaak I love them! With cheese, ham, tuna - whatever! Don't forget to ask the salesperson at the checkout to toast in a toaster 🙂

Fruit prices in Pattaya (January 2021):
per kilogram

  • Green mango - from 30 to 80 baht (depending on variety and size)
  • Mango yellow - from 60 to 100 baht (depending on the season)
  • Dragon fruit - 60-100 baht
  • Watermelon - 20-30 baht
  • Bananas - 40 baht
  • Durian - 120-180 baht per package (peeled and cut)
  • Apples - 120 baht
  • Rambutan - 120 baht
  • Mangosteen - 30-50 baht
  • Longan - 50-60 baht
  • Papaya - 40-45 baht

Personal advice. The cheapest way to buy fruit is from the markets. For example, at the Jomtien or Teprazit night market. Sometimes you can come across open trucks filled with mangoes or other fruits with a 3 * 100 plate. This means that for 3 kg they ask for 100 baht. This is very profitable, be sure to take it!

Alcohol prices in Pattaya.
So, the prices in Pattaya for food were found out, alcohol remained. Here it is in Thailand, terribly expensive (as well as in general in Southeast Asia). A good bottle of champagne costs 700 baht.

Therefore, I do not buy alcohol, I personally feel sorry to give so much money. It is better to go for a massage several times.

And you can relax with a glass in the cafe. There for 100 baht they will make you a cocktail - my favorite is Mai Tai. You can also always grab another bottle from Duty Free to Pattaya 😉

  • Local Chang beer - 50 baht
  • Champagne - from 300 baht
  • Wine - from 500 baht
  • Whiskey - from 1000 baht
  • Martini Bianco - from 990 baht

As you can see, this text is more in terms of prices and amounts that you can leave in Pattaya. But we, on the HowTrip website, also have a general article about rest in Pattaya, with all our impressions and tips.

Beaches in Pattaya

This is Pattaya Central Beach

The beaches in the resort are free. However, the water is rather muddy and dirty. In a beach vacation, Pattaya loses much to the same Phuket or Samui.

But there is good news: for white sand and blue transparent water, you can go to nearby islands. For example - to the island of Ko Lan (the link is a detailed article on what to get, where to sunbathe and what to watch).

The main beaches of Pattaya:

  • The central beach is dirty, somewhere in the distance you can see a sewer, and at night rats crawl on the sun loungers. Yes, that's it. I said Pattaya is losing. Nevertheless, there are a lot of tourists on this beach (and on the sun loungers).
  • Jomtien Beach - the situation is much better here. Many parents with children.
  • Cozy Beach
  • Wongamat Beach

Ferries to the islands run regularly from Pattaya Bali Hai Pier. But you can also take a tour of the 3 islands: Ko Lan, Ko Krok, Ko Sak - it costs from 1300 baht.

How much do tours in Pattaya cost?

If you are flying on vacation to Thailand for the first time, then the following excursions are a must! And these are not my words - this is how my parents told me when I was preparing an article for you :)

People usually go to Pattaya for outdoor activities. This is the only resort from which you can easily get to Bangkok, Cambodia and the deep jungle. I have indicated the prices for excursions in Pattaya to help navigate and "estimate" the budget for entertainment in advance.

I myself am not a fan of excursions, so I cannot form my own opinion.
But! There is the experience of parents. On a previous trip, they visited the River Kwai, drag shows and Xichang Island - said that compared to Ko Lan, Xichang is truly a desolate place with paradise landscapes. And the guide was interesting 🙂

Prices for excursions in Pattaya in 2021 (most popular):

Excursion to Cambodia from Pattaya
Duration - 2 days.
from $ 170 per person
Water park and amusement park in Bangkokfrom 900 baht
Koh Chang Island
The duration of the excursion to choose from - from 2 to 4 days.
from 2000 baht
River Kwai
Duration - 2 days.
from 2000 baht
Disneyland in Bangkok Dream Worldfrom 900 baht
Nong Nooch Tropical Gardenfrom 600 baht
Khao Kheow Zoofrom 550 baht

Where to go in Pattaya?

The beginning of that very street (I went here on foot, or arrived by tuk-tuk)

Free city attractions:

  • Walking Street is a famous street where all nightlife, bars, cabarets are concentrated. It is interesting to walk along it, even if you are not a fan of night discos.
  • Observation deck on Mount Pratumnak
  • Big Buddha Temple
  • Temple complex Wang Sam Sien
  • Jomtien Night Bazaar - for food, exotic and not so

Nightlife:
to convert to rubles, multiply prices by 2

  • Transvestite show in the Colosseum - from 400 baht
  • Thai boxing - from 1300 baht
  • Cabaret Alcazar - from 500 baht
  • Tiffany transvestite show - from 500 baht

Prices for massage, water and other entertainment

Yes, in Pattaya I did not disappear on excursions, but in massage parlors ...

A full hour of relaxation and relaxation for 100 baht! Very cheap. I always choose Thai massage - I like to feel my body kneading and everything crunches. After incredible ease. There is also a massage for the legs, neck and anything else.

  • Massage - 100-200 baht
  • Ramayana Water Park - 1190 baht
  • Temple of Truth - 500 baht
  • Jet skis - from 1000 baht in 20 minutes

Transport

One of the main streets that goes towards Central Beach - O_o traffic

Knock-knock.
The only public transport in Pattaya is tuk-tuk or songteo. Prices in Thailand for travel in such cars are almost the same: 10-20 baht. To catch a minibus, just raise your hand. Although more often they themselves annoyingly honk and slow down near you.

Personal advice. If you have stopped an empty knock knock, do not name the end point. Otherwise, the minibus will instantly turn into a taxi. And it will cost you several times more.

Taxi.
The cost of a taxi in the city is from 150 to 400 baht. At the same time, Thais do not have a clear price list, so it is better to agree on the price in advance before you get into the car. Otherwise, be prepared to give the amount that he will name.

How to get from Bangkok.
From the capital to Pattaya, I traveled from the East Terminal (bus station) near the Ekamai metro station. Buses run from platform 1 every 20-30 minutes. The cost is 110 baht per person.

If you want to get to Bangkok Airport on a budget, go to Jomtien Beach Pattaya. The bus departs from this station, the journey takes about an hour. The cost is 120 baht. If you want to be picked up from your hotel - then 280 baht.

Scooter and car rental

To get around the city on your own, rent a vehicle. Bike & auto for rent shops are often found along the streets.

The traffic in Pattaya is very busy, no one really follows the rules. Sometimes it seems to me that they simply do not exist. Therefore, if you are without experience, it is better to use public tuk-tuk.

  • Bike rental - from 200 baht per day.
  • Car rental - from 1000 baht per day, depending on the car brand. Note that the steering wheel is on the right. Here we talked about other nuances of car rental.

Personal advice. On a bike - only in a helmet. In Pattaya, there is a constant helmet control, and if you are noticed, a fine of 500 baht per passenger. Plus, it's security.

Shopping in Pattaya

Dedicated to shopaholics!
I am in love with shopping in Thailand. To be honest, I don't buy clothes in stores here: I prefer Thai markets. It is a pleasure to wander between the tents with beautiful handcrafted decorations and clothes.

And also, thanks to the markets, I have a huge collection of unusual sunglasses at home for only 50 baht apiece 🙂 Here you can find covers, braided anklets, a bunch of souvenirs. Eyes run wide. No matter how much money I take with me to the market, I let everything down. Therefore, if you are a shopaholic like me, then take only the amount that you plan to spend.

Below is a general list of where you can go shopping in Pattaya:

  • Central Festival Shopping Center. There are familiar clothes like H&M and Zara. The prices for things are the same as in Russia - but Uniqlo is a little cheaper.
  • Big C and Tesco Lotus. These are supermarkets, but they sell good quality beachwear. The cost is in the range of 100-400 baht. Flip flops and capes I buy there.
  • Night markets. The most fun and budget shopping in Pattaya. Clothes from 100 baht.

What can you bring from Thailand

Pattaya gets good reviews for shopping: prices are reasonable, and the choice is large. What to carry?

  • Fruit - Choose harder fruits (if about mangoes) so that they don't spoil while you are carrying them. You can carry it in a basket on board the aircraft. And remember about the norms established in Russia: no more than 5 kg per person.
  • Cosmetic products made from coconut - body and hair oils, scrubs.
  • Thai healing balms - they save from any pain, and from a cold. Checked on myself.
  • Thai natural toothpaste - uhh, how vigorous! Look at pharmacies.
  • Thai design notebooks.
  • Dried fruits - in any shop, like 7/11, you will find small packages of dried fruits: mangoes, bananas, durian. They are delicious. An excellent option if you failed to take fruit, or there was not enough for everyone.
  • A hammock - why not hang it on your balcony or in the country? Cost from 200 baht, sold on all beaches.
  • Wicker jewelry - bracelets, necklaces. Real hand made. Cost from 100 baht.
  • Pants or shorts with elephants - well, just a must have! 🙂

Bottom line: how much money to take to Pattaya?

Koh Lana has very clean beaches, wheat thickets somewhere in the middle of the island,
and in the morning there are not so many people

First, a couple of tips:

✓ Bring dollars or euros. It is more profitable to exchange currency in large denominations - for small ones (for example, $ 10 or $ 5) the rate is worse.

✓ Indicative course: $ 100 ≈ THB 3,000.

Pattaya for two - approximate price for costs on site:
(if you go for 10 days)

Food: lunch and dinner in inexpensive cafes≈ 14,000 rubles
Entertainment: Three popular excursions (Koh Chang Island, River Kwai, transvestite show) and massage≈ 26,000 rubles
Transport: tuk-tuk or bike rental≈ 4000 rubles
Shopping≈ 10,000 rubles

It is reasonable to take at least 50,000 rubles for expenses with you for two. If you visit more excursions and entertainment, then the budget will increase.

How do we get to Pattaya?
A tour to a 3-4 stars hotel - for the same 10 days - costs from 70,000 rubles. To relax inexpensively or on a last minute ticket, I recommend the Travelata service (I talked about it at the beginning). If the tour is more expensive than 100,000 rubles, you can apply a promotional code AF2000Thowtrip - he will give a discount of 2,000 rubles.

If you are flying on your own, then the alignment is as follows:

  • A plane ticket to Bangkok is 30,000 rubles for one round trip. And from Bangkok to Pattaya you can get by bus for 120 baht (250 rubles) per person.
  • Hotel 3-4 * - from 12,000 rubles for 10 nights.

Conclusion.

  • for those traveling by tour, a trip to Pattaya for two will cost ≈ 120,000 rubles.
  • for independent tourists from ≈ 125,000 rubles (provided that there are the lowest cost air tickets - and this is the only way to disassemble them during the season!).

To summarize: prices in Pattaya in 2021 are an order of magnitude lower than in other resorts in Thailand. If you need a budget, but interesting - this is the right choice!
