We determine the degree of attractiveness of the Turkish coast depending on the months. When does the season start and is it worth going in the off-season?

It would seem that there is no simpler question than the ideal time for a vacation in Turkey. In the summer, so that it's hotter 🙂 In principle, you can't argue. But you can spend your vacation, languishing in the heat and an overcrowded pool, or you can relax under the gentle sun on the always available sun lounger. And both options fall on the very season in Turkey.

Our friends flew to all inclusive at the end of November with a child and were satisfied. So we propose to sort out all the advantages and disadvantages of vacation by months and figure out when is the best time to go to Turkey, where the sea is warmer in summer, and why they praise the velvet season?

We were in Turkey:

  • in the resort part (Side, Alanya, Kemer) in May, August and September,
  • in the Stambul in June, November and March - on one's own
  • shot a lot of videos - see the article and on our YouTube channel

And if you have any questions about the resorts, ask them in the comments below :)

When is the best time to relax in Turkey? The beginning of the season

Complete the beach season in Turkey begins in June, when the water temperature reaches + 23 ° С. It ends in October, but tourists stay in hotels all year round, even in winter. To save money, it is better to go to Turkey in May or early November - the weather is good.

  • Yes, the end of April and the beginning of May can be that long-awaited mark when the holiday season kicks off. At this time, the warm sun is shining, hotels are open, cafes are opening, and ice cream sellers are blowing dust from their cart and acting skills, but it's still too early for a comfortable swim in the sea.

For convenience, I will make a visual table about the 2021 beach season in Turkey - and I will indicate the average water temperature, the decoding by color is below:

Can I swim?

Red - cold :(
Yellow - may be uncomfortable (but we swam)
Green is warm!

By the way, prices for trips to Turkey in the summer of 2021 start at 45,000 rubles, and this is subject to early booking. Play this option or catch a hot tour - it's up to you, and we will recommend services where you can find great deals:

  • Travelata
  • Onlinetours

March, April

Tourists arrive on vacation in Turkey in early spring, realizing that staying in this country is not only about beaches and all-inclusive hotels, but also about secluded relaxation, which allows you to store your strength to the maximum and spend it to a minimum.

  • How much does the tour cost in March-April: from 35,000 rubles per week for two.

In March good weather is already setting, although sunny days (up to + 20 ° С) are often replaced by rains and winds. By the end of March, the heat is becoming more and more, and with it the first guests are coming to Turkey. In the ski resorts, you can still catch the skiing / snowboarding season.

Air: + 17 ° С
Sea: + 17 ° С

Throughout the beginning and middle of spring, there is relative calm in traditional beach resorts. Antalya coast is the most popular among rare tourists. In the end of Aprilas we mentioned, it is possible to spend time on the beaches, albeit without swimming.

Air: + 20 ° С
Sea: + 18 ° С

Turkey in May

Pebble beach in Kemer, so the sea is quite clean (as opposed to the sandy entrance)

May holidays are generally a good time for a vacation at the resort. Perhaps the fattest disadvantage of the period will be cool waves and possible storms in the afternoon, but there is an alternative - a hotel with a heated pool 🙂

Everything else in the "May Day" season in Turkey is marked with a huge "+" sign: the weather is warm, but not stuffy, excursions bring more pleasure, sunburn appears, unnecessary people do not climb into the frame, and, which cannot but rejoice, the prices for vacations are inexpensive ...

Our experience. We went to Side in mid-May 2019. Really not stuffy, but at noon the sun is still strong, it is easy to burn out. We swam every day, in the heat and the cool water seems pleasant. As for the excursions, we took The Land of Legends park, and yes, it was not crowded. And our tour cost 45,000 rubles - Fortuna 4 stars from Kazan (settled in a good hotel, lucky!).

Prices for Turkey in May are still encouraging - a ticket can be taken for 50,000-60,000 rubles for two. We found our inexpensive tour online. We compared offers, as always, from three well-known aggregators:

  • Travelata
  • Level.Travel
  • Onlinetours

And if at the beginning of May the water in Turkey still invigorates, then by the end it becomes quite bathing - up to + 20 ° С ... + 21 ° С. The country is washed by four seas, but the differences in climatic conditions in Turkey in May are small. It is still preferable to buy tours to resorts located near the Mediterranean Sea, where the water heats up faster, and it rains less often.

Where is it warm in Turkey in May? We can confidently say that in Alanya. Side and Belek are also subject to consideration. But about Kemer, reviews of tourists are not so positive; mountainous terrain takes longer to warm up. It is better to go here in the summer.

But we still did not listen to the reviews of tourists and went to Kemer for a day in May. Ofigeli from the heat and decided that in the summer we would definitely not go to sleep 🙂 And we went specifically to write a detailed article - where is it better, in Side or Kemer?

View of the port of Antalya. The city is very beautiful!

Turkey in June 2021

Turkey in June is not yet in the high season, but all hotels are active, and the beaches are gradually filling up with "seals", the concentration of which reaches its apogee by the end of the month and continues until September 🙂

In early June, many tourists go on vacation with children. The water temperature, on average, reaches + 22 ° С ... + 23 ° С, and the air during the day - up to + 30 ° С. In addition, the humidity builds up, but the sensations are still tolerable. However, the weather can be a surprise in the form of chilly evenings and chilly seas. To make the swimsuit useful as often as possible, we advise you to open the holiday season in Turkey in June after 10 numbers.

How much does the tour cost in June: from 50,000 rubles per week for two.

Are you traveling with the whole family or to a luxury hotel, and the prices for vouchers exceed 100,000 rubles?

We, the editorial staff of HowTrip, have agreed to promo code with the largest online tour search engine Travelata. Pick up a ticket, enter the code word AFT2000howtrip - and get a discount of 2,000 rubles (valid for tours from 100,000 rubles).

In terms of warmth in summer, the Mediterranean Sea traditionally leads (remember that the heat comes last from the resorts to Kemer), followed by the Aegean and Black Sea.

If you are wondering when to go to Turkey for the bright, but not scorching sun, allowing you to wander around the sights at noon / sleep on the beach, then definitely better in June. You can compare Turkey with Tunisia, because at this time the African country is also good 🙂

Turkey in July-August

Rest in Kemer at the beginning of summer / View from our hotel to the Side embankment

July and August are the hottest months. Probably, the most popular ones are that you can swim and sunbathe to the maximum.

During the daytime, a reliable friend of tourists is a cream with a high spf, because usually an exhausting heat of + 35 ° C ... + 38 ° C reigns on the street, and only in the late evening there is a relative coolness of + 22 ° C ... + 23 ° C. They are looking for salvation in the water: in Turkey, in July, the sea temperature will please anyone with all its + 24 ° С ... + 28 ° С.

  • How much do all-inclusive vouchers cost in July: from 60,000 rubles per week for two.

If you describe the whole range of sensations in three words, then it is "unbearable, stuffy and humid." Moreover, the reviews of those who visited Turkey in July assure that they will never repeat such a mistake again 🙂

The air temperature in the northern resorts of the country is somewhat lower, so it is advised to go there for those who do not tolerate hot weather or families with a child.

In Augustthe hottest weather of the year is expected as usual. It rains very rarely.Hotels are packed to capacity, after all, the last month of summer, and all the "procrastinators" are eager to have time to fry in the sun.

  • How much does a tour of Turkey cost in August 2021: from 60,000 rubles per week for two.

The obvious advantage is a decent variety of juicy vegetables and fruits. The abundance of figs, grapes, peaches, avocados and berries will delight and perhaps even refresh. Prices for tours in August are quite reasonable; at the end of the month, the likelihood of buying last minute tours with significant discounts increases.

When does the beach season end in Turkey?

Deserted beach in Turkey after the end of the season

If the season begins in April-May, it ends only in the second half of autumn.

To know exactly when the season ends in Turkey, you need to consider the location of the resorts. On the coast of the Aegean Sea in the northern part of the country, the weather gets worse already in September, while near the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, even in the second half of October, it is warm and the sun is shining.

Fans of excursions appreciate this period, because there is no longer the exhausting heat and crowds of tourists with cameras. Moreover, a peaceful stay in comfortable hotels with spa and all inclusive is much more profitable in autumn and winter.

Turkey in autumn (September, October, November)

Turkey in the fall, especially in the first two months, is no less in demand, because the velvet season starts, when the sea and air temperatures are almost equal.

In September the water remains warm for a long time, up to + 25 ° С… + 28 ° С. The heat gradually subsides, allowing you to be outside after 11 days and breathe freely. Note that the most comfortable period follows in the second half of the month.

  • How much does a tour to Turkey cost in September: from 40,000 rubles per week for two.

Judging by the reviews, September is an excellent choice for a vacation with young children (preschoolers): fruits, gentle sun, fewer people. However, keep in mind that there may be a couple of stormy days on the 10th.

The button above is our detailed text about September Turkey, and below is our vlog on YouTube on the same topic (so to speak, we take into account the interests of both video and text lovers :)).

October (from the second half) is already considered a low season. But, you know, thoughtful travelers are not deterred.

Firstly, until the 20th of the day the weather (+ 23 ° С ... + 28 ° С) allows both swimming and sunbathing, although in the evening it forces you to wear something with long sleeves. Secondly, typical "baggers" do not favor the Turkish coast in the midst of autumn, which means that there are almost no people! Thirdly, the decrease in the influx is associated with a drop in prices for everything - vouchers, shopping, excursions. The latter are especially pleasant on an October day.

  • How much does the tour cost in October: from 35,000 rubles per week for two.

Of course, there are also some disadvantages. In particular, animation and local trade are being phased out; sometimes it can rain down.

Several times we flew to Istanbul with a transfer at 24-48 hours. Turkish Airlines provide a free hotel with breakfast, and in a couple of such transfers we saw the city from all sides 🙂

November - this is no longer the beach season. However, tours are still being bought and sold. They go mainly for the most relaxed rest away from the city and noise, closer to the sea and, to some extent, warmth (during the day + 15 ° С ... + 20 ° С, except for bad weather, water + 18 ° С ... + 20 ° WITH).

  • How much are vouchers to Turkey in November: from 30,000 rubles per week for two.

Of the hotels, there are good triples or fives that work all year round and offer guests a heated pool instead of the sea. By the way, at this time the numerical superiority among the guests was on the side of the Europeans, not the Russians. Thrifty Germans / Dutch / French and pensioners of all nations know that in November it is possible to live in luxurious all inclusive conditions 2-3 times cheaper than in summer.

Relaxing time by the picturesque coastal landscapes, leisurely sightseeing, long walks and spa treatments in case of bad weather - this is a rough program of a vacation in Turkey in November. And does the sea need to be fully recharged on a budget? 🙂

Turkey in winter (December, January and February)

If the above photo of Istanbul was in autumn, then this is how the city looks in summer.

We describe in detail about rest in Turkey in winter (with prices, weather forecast and description of resorts) in this article.

In short, in the off-season, tourists are expected:

  • Not bad weather (definitely better than in Russia)
  • Spa hotels on the coast
  • Istanbul, its sights and cats
  • Ski spots where snowboarders and skiers spend active holidays

Tours to Turkey from Moscow 2021

Tours to Turkey from Moscow are available at any time of the year. In summer, it is a beach holiday, in winter - trips to ski resorts, and all year round - it is a visit to Istanbul mosques, palaces and fortresses that reveal the secrets of this original country.

Tours to Turkey in 2021 are still democratic. An excellent ratio of quality in comfortable all inclusive hotels and prices for a voucher is typical for this direction: in a 5 * hotel you can relax for 63,000 rubles.

Resorts in Turkey (season 2021)

The number of resort cities in Turkey is so great that it will be very difficult to list them all. The most famous:

  • Black Sea resorts - Abana, Samsun, Sinop, Amsara, now the infrastructure of these cities is inferior to well-known tourist places, but their arrangement is in full swing
  • resorts of the Mediterranean coast - leaders of the country's tourism industry, these include Antalya, Belek, Kemer, Alanya, Side, Fethiye, where you can relax on the magnificent sand and pebble beaches from May to October
  • resorts on the Aegean - Marmaris, Bodrum, Kusadasi, Cesme, Didim attract millions of tourists from June to September
  • ski resorts - Mount Olympus in Uludag National Park, Palandoken, Sarikamysh, Kartalkaya, Erciyes
  • resorts of the Sea of Marmara - Erdek, Moudania, Princes' Islands.

And, of course, one cannot fail to visit Istanbul - the largest city and port of the country located simultaneously in Europe and Asia. Istanbul is famous for its museums, stately palaces, mosques and monuments of ancient civilizations. Most of the sights are located in the city center, there are also hotels of various levels of comfort.
